Scopus Webinar 11/4

Speaker: Elsevier Staff

For many years, all OhioLINK institutions have had access to Web of Science (Science Citation Index, Social Science Citation Index, and Arts & Humanities Citation Index) for interdisciplinary subject and citation searching.

Recent budget reductions at OhioLINK and OhioLINK libraries, combined with database price increases, have lead us to closely investigate our options for accessing multidisciplinary content and citation data.  OhioLINK recently issued an Intent to Negotiate (ITN) for such a multidisciplinary subject and citation database for our libraries. Thomson Reuters responded with a suite of databases including the Web of Science. Elsevier responded with their Scopus database. Scopus is growing in size and world-wide reputation.  Library customers and staff are being asked to explore and compare these resources in an effort to help OhioLINK select the best solution going forward.

Because Scopus is a new resource for most of us at OSU, two introductory training webinars have been scheduled.  These will give us all an opportunity to learn about this database.  These sessions are designed for library customers and librarians.
