CINAHL
Information published from 1982 to present on nursing and allied health fields.  Includes journal articles, books, book chapters, pamphlets, dissertations, audiovisuals and educational software, and virtually all publications of the American Nurses' Association and the National League for Nursing.  Evidence based care sheets are also available.

MEDLINE (via PubMed)
The National Library of Medicine’s premier database covers the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, allied medical professions, veterinary medicine, the health care system, and the preclinical sciences. Indexes articles from approximately 4,300 journals published in the U.S. and seventy other countries.

Evidence-Based Medicine Reviews (EBMR via OVID)
Designed for clinicians, researchers, and students wishing to base clinical decisions on accumulated evidence from the primary medical literature. EBMR combines two leading evidence-based medicine resources: The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews and Best Evidence, containing ACP Journal Club and Evidence-Based Medicine from the American College of Physicians and the British Medical Journal Publishing Group.

UpToDate
Provides evidence-based answers to commonly asked questions in clinical practice. Designed to provide practical, concise information needed at the point of care. (on campus only access)

MD Consult

Full-text information for a broad range of medical specialties. The Core Collection consists of reference books, practice guidelines, journal articles, drug references, medical news, and patient education resources. Also includes “Clinical Topic Tours” and “Case of the Week” for medical students and residents.

FirstConsult
Evidence-based resource for the point of care with peer-reviewed content and a differential diagnosis tool. As part of the subscription, you can download FirstConsult Handheld to your PDA.

Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ)
U.S. agency “charged with improving the quality, safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of health care for all Americans.” 
Also search for nursing guidelines at the National Guideline Clearinghouse which is a subset of AHRQ.

Centre for Evidence Based Medicine
Located at the University of Toronto, this site offers excellent, comprehensive syllabi as an EBN teaching tool.  Intro to evidence based nursing, other evidence based nursing resources, sample scenarios, search strategies, worksheets etc. are included.

Joanna Briggs Institute
An international research and development agency based in Australia that seeks to advance evidence-based practice in health care. The Web site includes evidence based practice sheets on dozens of topics.  Many are free to access.

McGill University Health Centre
Research & Clinical Resources for Evidence Based Nursing Web site includes pages devoted to Guides and Tools, Guidelines, and Research News and Reports. Click on the links under the Resources by Topics section.

National League of Nursing
The NLN posts a guide to a comprehensive selection of databases, practice guideline websites, etc. that support EBN.

University of Minnesota  Evidence Based Health Care Project
Includes definitions, models and barriers to Evidence-Based Nursing.

University of Texas Health Center
A good collection of links for EBN as well as a model of knowledge transformation and systems to rate the strength of scientific evidence.

Evidence-Based Nursing
