What are RSS Feeds?
RSS stands for 'Really Simple Syndication'. RSS feeds provide real time updates when web-based content is published, without having to visit multiple sites. The feeds are simply web pages designed to be read by computers rather than people.
How do I start using RSS Feeds?
The first thing needed is an RSS reader. This is a piece of software that checks feeds for new content has been added. There are many different flavors of RSS readers. Most of them are like Google Reader and Bloglines which are accessed using a browser. There are many readers to choose from for most platforms and form factors.
Once a reader has been chosen, one needs to locate the content to be received. Most sites that offer RSS use a orange button icon to indicate a feed is available. How a feed is subscribed to is based on the reader, but is most often done by cutting and pasting the feed URL into the news reader.
