Image Resources Available Through Library Subscriptions 
images.MD : A licensed database of more than 50,000 high-quality medical images which allows OSU faculty, staff, and students to download, print, and import images for projects such as class handouts, PowerPoint presentations, and online course management systems. See the Terms of Use for more information on how these images can be used.

NetAnatomy : Developed by anatomy faculty from The George Washington University, this resource is designed to teach human anatomy to students in the health professions. The database includes radiographic, cross-sectional, and gross anatomical images and textual content. Anatomical descriptions, labels, and online tests are provided.

Images on MD Consult : Quickly search over 50,000 medical images from the medical books on MD Consult. Users may print or download images for their non-commercial use provided that all copyright and other proprietary notices are kept intact.

Freely Available Image Resources

ASH Image Bank : The American Society of Hematology (ASH) Image Bank is intended to serve as a comprehensive reference and teaching tool that is widely accessible to physicians and hematology students around the world. The images are presented in a digital, case-based format.

DermAtlas : This collection from Johns Hopkins features over 4,000 dermatological images. Faculty, staff, and students are welcome to download images for lectures and other teaching purposes.

Gray's Anatomy of the Human Body : Provides access to over 1,200 images from Gray's classic text. The contents of this free online book/image service are intended for your personal, educational, noncommercial use.

Images from the History of Medicine (NLM) : Provides access to the nearly 60,000 images in the prints and photograph collection of the History of Medicine Division of the National Library of Medicine.  Images may be used for private study, education, or research.  NLM requests that images include the credit line "Courtesy of the National Library of Medicine."

NEI Photos, Images, and Videos : Contains photos, images and videos from the collections of the National Eye Institute. Items are not copyrighted and are not intended for commerical use. If an image is used, credit should be given to the listed source.

NCI Visuals Online : NCI Visuals Online contains general biomedical and science-related images, cancer-specific, and patient care-related images. All images are in the public domain and may be used, linked, or reproduced without permission. If an image is used, credit should be given to the listed source and/or author.

NIH Image Bank : Contents include general biomedical and science-related images, clinicians, computers, patient care-related images, and microscopy images.

Public Health Image Library : Serves as the library of CDC pictures.  Images may be used for reference, teaching, presentation, and public health messages.

Wellcome Images : The Biomedical Collection holds over 40,000 high-quality images from the clinical and biomedical sciences. Images are freely available for download for personal, academic teaching or study use.

Whole Brain Atlas : This atlas serves as a resource for central nervous system imaging. Portions of this work may be individually downloaded, copied, and cited for the personal and educational purposes of individuals and organizations in their work, provided that proper attribution and context are given.


ORGANIZATIONAL REPOSITORIES WITH IMAGE COLLECTIONS

HEAL : The Health Education Assets Library (HEAL) is a digital library that provides freely accessible digital teaching resources. HEAL is a component of the National Sciences Digital Library and is made possible by grants from the National Science Foundation and the National Library of Medicine. Free registration is required for access.

MERLOT Health Sciences Portal : The MERLOT (Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching) Health Sciences Portal is an educational resource for teaching and learning.

MedEdPORTAL : MedEdPORTAL is a new approach to digital resources from the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). Examples of MedEdPORTAL resources include tutorials, virtual patients, cases, and other teaching materials covering the continuum of medical education.
