Educational Use of Copyrighted Materials
After determining that an educational use of copyrighted materials is permitted according to the Fair Use law or the Teach Act, a copyright notice and attribution should be supplied with the copyrighted material.

A Copyright Notice should be scanned in before the material being made into a pdf or another type of image for use in Carmen or in electronic reserves. Also, the title and copyright page from any print material should be scanned. When linking to online material or a library electronic resource from Carmen, the copyright notice should be inserted in the News or Comment section in Carmen. Copyright Notice to be used

Give attribution to the original source either through scanning the title page of textual material or including attribution with any image, table, graph, etc. used. Include the web address for any material used from a website. Giving a web address or link is preferred to copying material from a website into Carmen or electronic reserves. Failure to give attribution can be construed as plagiarism.
