A new paid subscription to FIRSTConsult, part of the MD Consult system, is available to OSU faculty, staff, and students through special funding from the College of Medicine.

FIRSTConsult is a new web and PDA-accessible clinical information resource that provides continually updated, evidence-based guidance on patient evaluation, diagnosis, and management.

FIRSTConsult is designed for use at the point of care.  Product features include:

Differential Diagnosis Files-Lists presenting signs and symptoms as well as possible diagnoses, sorted by age and prevalence for an at-a-glance review.

Medical Conditions Files-Easy to navigate, bulleted sections covering diagnostic tests and treatments.  If desired, users can link to additional clinical evidence from respected sources such as the Cochrane Collaboration and BMJ’s Clinical Evidence products.

Procedure Files-Streaming video and text provide step-by-step guidance on common techniques.

MD Consult Integration-Users can easily move from FIRST Consult to MD Consult for access to full-text books, journal articles, and medical news.

PDA Accessible-FIRSTConsult Handheld is included with the annual subscription.  Users download the POCKETConsult reader and choose between two FIRSTConsult Handheld packages sized to meet your needs and system requirements.

Access FIRSTConsult from the links on this page or from MD Consult.
