Finding Electronic Journals
Persons affiliated with OSU can use two tools to locate and access electronic journals. 1) Use the E-Journals A-Z list. You can browse or search this list of online (only) journals. 2) Search the online catalog (OSCAR). If searching for a particular journal title in OSCAR, you can: - Do a TITLE search in the Web Electronic Journals section of Library Catalog
Example: Journal Of Molecular Biology Select the title and then click on "Connect to Web Site". Follow the on-screen instructions from the publisher's site, choosing the desired issue and article. - Do a TITLE search in the Full Catalog of Library Catalog and look for the "online title".
Example: Journal Of Molecular Biology Online Select this online version and then click on "Connect to Web Site". Follow the on-screen instructions from the publisher's site, choosing the desired issue and article. If you wish to search the online catalog for electronic journals on particular subjects: - Do a SUBJECT or WORDS search and wait for the list of materials to appear.
- Limit this list by clicking on the LIMIT/SORT button.
- Limit first by location--when looking for items on the Web select Web E-Journals.
- Any electronic journals in the particular subject or keyword will appear.
- As above, select the online version of the desired title.
- Click on "Connect to Web Site" and follow any other on-screen instructions.
- To search for full-text (only) journal articles on a particular subject, the OhioLINK Electronic Journal Center (EJC) can be searched directly. From EJC, click on the search form and enter a keyword or subject. This will only produce full-text articles on a subject as opposed to searching a database such as MEDLINE which links to either abstracts or full-text.
