Book and Journal Information

  • Journals published from 1960 to the present are shelved in alphabetical order on the second and third floors. Circulating books (including oversized) published from 1980 to the present are located in compact shelving units on the fourth floor.

  • Books published before 1980 and journals published before 1960 are available from the book depository by self-checkout via the online catalog or by request at the Circulation Desk.

  • The Reference Collection contains directories, statistical sources, dictionaries, handbooks, and textbooks in the health sciences. It is located on the first floor. These books are non-circulating.

  • As of 2005, the Library receives 5,584 journal titles (in print and/or electronic formats).  Total number of print book and journal volumes housed in the Library is 192,716.  An additional 75,778 volumes are housed at the book depository.

  • There are two ways to find a particular electronic journal.  One is to search or browse the A-Z list of e-journals.  The other is by searching for the title in the online catalog.  In the catalog, electronic journals have the word "online" at the end of the title.  Example: British Journal of Orthodontics Online
