Health Sciences Library Education and Reference Services Coordinator
The Prior Health Sciences Library (HSL) and Center for Knowledge Management (CKM) seeks an energetic and innovative Education and Reference Services Coordinator. The Library and CKM is an integrated organization offering traditional library services as well as cutting edge technological assistance to the faculty and students of the Ohio State University’s health sciences colleges. The Health Sciences Education and Reference Services Coordinator will lead a team of librarians and staff from the combined organization in the development and implementation of a customer centered, state-ofthe- art education and reference services program for the Ohio State University Medical Center and health sciences colleges. In addition, this position will work collaboratively with units of the larger university, including University Libraries to foster productive and inspired educational innovations.
Responsibilities:
¨ Develop educational programs for faculty, staff, and students in the health sciences community. These may be workshops, tutorials, course-related instructional presentations, stand-alone credit courses, or house calls, and they may be delivered virtually or in person.
¨ Work collaboratively with the team of library and CKM faculty and staff to integrate the products and processes of evolving technology into the Library’s educational program, including emerging applications of web tools.
¨ Work collaboratively with the team of library and CKM faculty and staff to establish liaison partnerships with health sciences faculty in order to integrate information resources and competencies into the health sciences curricula and the clinical setting.
¨ Oversee promotion and assessment of innovative education and reference services programs.
¨ Continue ongoing instructional programs.
¨ Coordinate the distribution of reference and liaison duties; participate in providing reference and liaison service; and delegate tasks as necessary.
¨ Supervise the Instruction Librarian.
¨ Serve on committees and task forces as needed and appropriate.
Qualifications:
¨ An M.L.I.S. from an ALA-accredited institution or evidence that the degree will be completed by December, 2008.
¨ Demonstrated ability with technology, including ability to create web based and multi-media instructional modules.
¨ A degree, course work, experience, or demonstrated knowledge of educational principles and practices.
¨ Demonstrated ability to apply evolving developments in technology to the library’s education and reference services.
¨ Demonstrated ability to work proactively with faculty and students and collaboratively with a professional team.
¨ Demonstrated excellence in leadership, planning, management and communication skills.
This position has faculty status with accompanying University expectations and requirements for tenure and promotion, including teaching, service and publication. The Health Sciences Library Education and Reference Services Coordinator reports to the Associate Director.
